How to wake up pretty: the definitive guide on beauty sleep

Sleep is essential for beauty and health. However, there are some hacks that you can add in your life to wake up prettier (and consequently take less time getting ready in the morning, ‘cause every minute of sleep counts).

  1. Shower, exfoliate, and moisturize at night and maybe add in a bit of self massage to release tension. This will keep your body looking and feeling soft.
  2. Consider slowly incorporating a Korean skincare night routine. Every step in the Korean skincare routine has rhyme and reason, and it truly does help to make your skin prettier. We will have a more in depth blog post soon. But cleanse with oil (to dissolve makeup, oil, dark spots, and dead skin cells), foam cleanse to remove the oil and impurities, then toner to remove the last of the foam cleanser, hydrate your skin, and treat particular skin concerns, add in a sheet mask (you only need this two or three times a week), add in a emulsion to moisturize more, then serum for a particular skin concern you may have, eye cream, follow with a moisturizer, and maybe add in a sleep mask).
  3. Consider gently massaging your face to lift your skin and prevent wrinkles over time. Either with a Gua Sha tool or your fingers, gently massage upwards and from center to the edges of your face. The effect is immediate, and overtime it builds up.
  4. Prepare your hair. Hair is importance for having a put together appearance, and yes you can prepare your hair at night to avoid the dreaded bed head in the morning (also to grow your hair longer is that’s a goal you have). There’s a couple ways to do this. We recommend spraying our AROMATICA Rosemary Root Enhancer Essence on your scalp and massaging it in for a couple of minutes. On the tips of your hair add a little bit oil like macadamia oil. Then, consider wearing a protective hairstyle, this is different depending the texture and length of your hair. My favorite one is a loose top knot secured with a scrunchie, but others prefer two braids. Mind you, don’t go for ponytails and French braids to avoid traction alopecia. If you have wavy or curly hair consider wrapping it in a silky scarf as well.
  5. Add in a sleep mask/ pack. This was mentioned in a previous step, but sleeping masks and packs are some of the absolute best things you can ask for your skin. They really pack in a punch full of nutrients for your skin. If you have sun damage, sun spots, dry skin, acne, or blemishes you can add in a pack with vitamin C. You can also add extra moisture if you have sensitive or dry skin. Here at Glow-Sugar we have plenty for different skin concerns.
  6. Add in a lip mask. Lip masks are like lip balms on steroids. They really hydrate, moisturize and soften your lips so that you wake up with plump lips .
  7. Silk pillowcase. I think silk pillowcases are some of the best investments you can make for your beauty. It’s soft, it’s pleasant, it protects your hair from breakage and frizz, your skin from wrinkles.
